Created in 1995, the series Romance has a similar flavor to the Mystery Paintings series. The fashions of the 1970s and Vogue magazine were my inspiration. I love men in tuxedos and women in their finery.
When it comes to romance, I’m very sentimental even schmaltzy. I love to fall in love. Being very idealistic, more in love with love itself. As in Mystery, there is an edginess, a subtle sinister element threatening to destroy the illusion. To me, love is truly mysterious. Why do we unfailingly respond like a moth to a flame? Dangerously close to singeing our wings.
